My name is Milena Gashaw. My passion for making jewelry started long ago.

Since I was a kid, I’ve always been fascinated by art and creativity. I had my dad teach me art, but I gave up because I didn’t think I had the talent for it.

I gave up the idea of pursuing art, but not the passion for it. 

When selecting a major in college, I wanted to play it safe, so I chose my other passion - Computer Information Systems, but I always felt envious of those who chose to follow their passion in art, always wishing I had taken one or two classes to satisfy the “artist in me.” 

While in college, one of my housemates decided to minor in jewelry design. I was in awe, but it was my last semester and I was ready to start working in the corporate world, so I dimmed that light and moved on. 

Over the years, the thought and dream would ignite itself regularly.

I would catch myself designing a piece of jewelry in my head, only to shut it down and focus on my career, my family and my life. 

But no matter how hard I tried, I could not let go of the dream.

Fast forward to 2016, once my children were old enough and needed me less, I decided to do something I’m really passionate about. At that point, it was clear to me that I had to follow my dream, so I picked up a paint brush and I started teaching myself acrylic painting. 

Between 2016 and 2019, I dabbled in different mediums (acrylic, resin, wax, clay, watercolor, pencil drawing and alcohol ink). The more I felt comfortable with my artistic side, the more I was eager to learn something new. I watched hundreds of hours of videos, read articles and listened to podcasts.

In 2019, my lifelong dream of jewelry making ignited once more. This time, I was ready! I finally followed my passion, and Milena Gashaw Jewelry was born!
